The Operations Staff at Spoonflower help us serve our rapidly growing community of designers, sewists, and fabric lovers. Spoonflower strives to provide its customers with timely service and high-quality products.  This position is responsible for the floor operations at Spoonflower, which includes monitoring product quality, cutting, packing & shipping fabric, wallpaper, and gift wrap.

Position Responsibilities

  • Cutting down fabric, wallpaper and gift wrap as they are printed and prepare items for shipping.

  • Quality assurance of all the products produced. The members of the Operations team are the last people to see our products before it reaches the customer and are accountable for making sure it is free of printing or material flaws. This requires the candidate to be a careful and conscientious person who pays attention to detail and respects and understands the expectations and needs of Spoonflower customers.

  • Shipping finished products to customers to both domestic and international addresses. Assure the orders are correct and routed to the correct customer.

  • Loading rolls of paper and fabric onto heating machines, and operating the machines safely and efficiently.

Requirements for this Position

  • Able to cut fabric safely using handheld rotary cutters.

  • Basic computer literacy for operation of our internal and shipping softwares.

  • Communications should be professional, and written communications should employ a college standard of grammar, spelling, and composition.

  • Intrepid problem solving and improvisation. Good team communications, flexibility, and a sense of adventure are crucial to fixing things and minimizing the impact of problems.

  • Able to move and load large rolls of fabric of up to 50 lbs and to load fabric onto heating machines

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods of time as well as bend, climb, pull, push, balance, kneel, twist, and sit intermittently during the day.

We are seeking candidates who are able to work 2nd shift (3:00 pm – 11:00 pm) and who are able to work any day of the week. Applicants who can work weekends will be given priority.  Applicants must be available to work at least 24 hours per week.

Salary- We are thrilled to be a part of the Durham Living Wage Project. Our commitment to providing our employees with a living wage is just one of the ways in which Spoonflower pays it forward. New Spoonflower employee wages start at $12/hour. After the successful completion of a 90- day probationary period, you will be eligible for a base wage increase to $13/ per hour.

Medical



A robust medical plan for Spoonflower employees and dependents, where a majority of of the costs are paid for by Spoonflower. 

Spoonflower covers 100% of employee and family medical premiums. 

By using an HSA and HRA, Spoonflower is able to cover 93% of an employee’s (and their covered family members’) medical expenses in a plan year*

Dental & Vision

Voluntary plans to cover employees and dependents through BlueCross BlueShield.

Dental and vision plans are voluntary plans where the employee can choose to take one (or both) plans and to pay a modest premium. 

Retirement

401K plans are offered with an employer match; employees are always fully vested in their own and in Spoonflower’s contributions. 

After 90 days of employment, Spoonflower employees - both part-time and full-time -  become eligible to participate in the company’s 401K Plan.  Employees can choose between a Roth or a Traditional 401K (or invest in both) to save for retirement. 

Spoonflower matches the first 3% contribution to one’s 401K on a dollar-for-dollar basis and 50% on the 4th and 5th percent. Maximum match is 4%.

Time Off

120 hours of Paid Time Off per year, and 80 hours of flexible holiday time.

Spoonflower wants employees to recharge and refresh themselves with time off.  With that in mind, we provide up to 120 hours of paid time off per year, plus 80 hours of flexible holiday time per year to each full time employee.
