Looma believes that the most powerful way to drive a purchase is to tell a story. We’re building a nationwide network of At-Shelf Maker Stories, comprised of tablets in grocery stores that play short videos about the humans behind our products. The goal of our films is simple: we want to capture and share stories of people who love what they do, driving emotional affinity for both vendor and venue. Ultimately, our vision for the maker story platform is to replicate the communal feel of a farmers’ market through a scalable channel that merges the online and offline experience.
The Director of Software Development will be responsible for the systems that remotely manage our tablet network. Core functions of the tablet network include content deployment, content looping, network health analytics, and consumer data collection. Our target network uptime is 99.9%, which is no small feat for grocery retail, where WiFi is notoriously slow and weekly consumer count is north of a million. As the core device management technology firms up, the Director of Software Development will be expected to focus efforts on expanding Looma’s consumer (and some non-consumer) datasets, through both the tablet network as well as external sources.
At this stage of the company, we’re primarily interested in finding someone intelligent, eager, and excited about our mission. Due to the stage of the company, our systems are not very complex, and this hire will significantly influence the technologies we use. Having said that, familiarity our existing stack certainly counts as a bonus.
Structure & Compensation
The Director of Software Development is a full-time position for which we expect the market salary to be $100k - $160k. We anticipate cash compensation for this position to fall between $70k - $110k, with the balance paid in stock options.
